Welcome to Mrs. Finney’s Website!
It really is hard to believe we are ready to begin a new school year! Yet, in just 3 short weeks, a new year will have begun. I am already so excited about welcoming the new 6th graders to Joe Shafer Middle School because we are truly a great place to be!
The supply list for 6th grade is posted at the school site. Just for clarification, students will need 2 green folders with pockets and prongs for Science. At least one of them needs to be a heavy-duty plastic green folder to last all year. The second folder can be either a plastic or paper green folder. Students need to have all supplies on Monday, August 11. Please note that students wishing to have a lock on their locker need to bring a combination lock only.
Students will be bringing many papers home the first few days that require you to read, sign, and return as soon as possible. One thing the teachers would love to have is an email address for each family to send regular updates about what is happening in the classroom. We can let you know about homework, tests, projects, and anything else that is coming up at school. It is a wonderful way for us to stay in constant communication. We can also respond quickly to any questions or concerns you may have. As you can tell on my side menu, I post student grades. You will receive more information about this, but no student names are listed and grades are not listed by an alphabetical classroom list.
I look so forward to working with you and your students this year. Middle school is a fun and exciting change from elementary school, but please rest assured that all the teachers work hard to make it a smooth transition for the students. We are so fortunate to have the most amazing classroom teachers and staff at Shafer Middle School. From the Related Arts classes to office personnel, cafeteria, administration, custodial staff, and core classes, Joe Shafer Middle can’t be beat!!!! Welcome to our community of learners.
